VOLTERRA

VOLTERRA

Volterra, once a prominent city within the Etruscan league, is perched upon a hill, standing 1800 feet above sea level. Like many Etruscan towns, it was strategically built for its vantage point. Following the Etruscans, the Romans took control of the town, leaving behind a rich tapestry of Roman and Etruscan archaeological sites for us to marvel at today.

The crafting of alabaster in Volterra is a time-honored tradition that dates back to the Etruscans, who meticulously shaped this material into urns, vases, and various other artistic creations.

Stepping into Volterra is like traveling back in time, as much of the town remains untouched since the Middle Ages. Here, you can immerse yourself in the charm of its beautiful piazzas, historic buildings, and breathtaking panoramic views.
